Snow tunnel

Wow! There simply isn’t any other word to describe the garden today. We’ve had about 8inches of snow overnight and everything is covered in a deep, thick blanket. Roads are all congested and it looks highly unlikely that the train will be running – no train, no work. Thankfully all is well inside the polytunnel – the temperature has even stayed above freezing without a heater, maybe the insulation properties of the snow I don’t know. What I do know is that still being relatively new to all of this, I’m glad I invested in a polytunnel. It’s only small, 10×10ft, but that enables me to have it on hand in my garden at home and keep growing no matter what the weather.

We have the snow too, looks like nearly the whole country has ground to a halt! I own a polytunnel and have been totally amazed over the past couple of weeks as the outside temperature has dropped incredibly low, yet in the tunnel, all is well. Ok it’s not tropical but the temperature has remained a couple of degrees above freezing even on the very cold days/nights which is amazing. Not so sure about the plants outside though, can’t see any trace of them anymore too much snow.

The UK is absolutely freezing today, and has been since well before Christmas. I can’t believe that little old Macclesfield in Cheshire was the coldest place in the country last night at -17.6C. I wondered if my seeds will be OK in my tunnel?
